Outside in W.A.

Welcome to our travel-log. Here we keep a record of each of our trips into the great outdoors of Washington state. As the seasons turn from the long and sunny days of summer, through the golden afternoons of autumn to the grey and dark of winter, the sun will burn and the gentle rains of winter and spring will turn to America's deepest snow in the mountains above. Outside in W.A. will record it all.

Snow Sliding at Snoqualmie

Three weeks of rain brought untold amounts of snow to the mountains all around Seattle. We took off mid morning Saturday for Snoqualmie Pass where three ski resorts provide the nearest access to skiing and snowboarding to the Seattle metropolis. Just past the east resort lies a sledding area where Aislinn and Muirenn (and myself!) took dozens of slides in the soft snow. It was a fantastic morning and we were back for lunch.

I had hoped to hit the slopes with my board during this wet spell but I'm sure it won't be long until our next batch of rain and snow comes along. Mount Baker to the north currently has the deepest snow base in the world!
